Does privacy window film really work?
Yes, during daylight hours. The film is more reflective than the glass behind it, so when it is brighter outside than inside, anyone looking in sees a mirror while you still see out clearly. After dark, with your lights on, that ratio reverses — see the next question.
Does window film work at night?
The one-way effect reverses at night once your interior lights are on. The brighter side becomes the inside, so the mirror faces you instead of the street. If you need privacy around the clock, pair the film with blinds or curtains you close in the evening — reflective film alone is a daytime tool.
Does window film damage double glazing?
Not when the right film is matched to the right glass. Problems come from fitting a high-absorption film to a sealed unit that cannot cope with the extra thermal stress. Checking the glass type before quoting is part of the job.
How long does window film last?
A quality architectural film fitted indoors lasts well over a decade. Cheap film bubbles, purples and peels within a season or two. The gap between the two is almost entirely the film grade and the quality of the installation.
